Usually, I like to bake my donuts because they are a bit healthier. Frying them had been on my to-do list for a long time, but I was so petrified that the task seemed too daunting. So it needs to be activated by mixing in with the milk We add it to the flour once it's bubbling and frothy. You can use instant yeast as well. There is no need to activate it, so you can add it directly to the flour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Milk:<\/strong> Since this is a vegan donut recipe, I used almond milk in this recipe. You can switch to regular cow milk instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oil:<\/strong> Melted coconut oil was used in this recipe. Let it sit in the cozy nook of your kitchen for 10 to 15 minutes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the yeast is nicely bubbly and frothy, make a well in the center of your dry ingredients and pour it in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine the ingredients using the hook attachment of your stand mixer. Set the speed at the lowest. Increase it to 3 or 4 as the ingredients mix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When the dough begins to leave the bowl\u2019s sides and form a ball, it is ready. This will take about 4 to 5 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-make-the-dough-without-a-stand-mixer\">Make The Dough Without A Stand Mixer <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t have to have a stand mixer to make donuts. It\u2019s easy to knead the dough by hand. Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes. That\u2019s what makes the donuts fluffy and light instead of a lump of dough in your mouth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It requires a little elbow grease, but that\u2019s the only effort. I thought it was the frying that would take time, yet that went blazingly fast.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-proof-the-dough\">Proof The Dough<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The dough is very smooth, supple elastic, and not sticky at all. So, you won\u2019t have to flour the work surface.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simply turn the dough on your prep area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knead it for a couple of minutes and then place it in a lightly greased bowl.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover it with a tea towel and let it rest in a draft-free, cozy alcove of the kitchen.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1 to 2 hours, or when it has doubled in size, the dough is ready to be divided.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-shape-the-donuts\">Shape The Donuts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead briefly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Divide the dough into 16 to 18 equal parts. I recommend using a kitchen scale to measure the dough pieces rather than eyeballing them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roll each into a ball and place them on a floured tray.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Another method is to roll out the dough into a circle and then use a round cookie cutter to make donuts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1697\" data-pin-description=\"What a delight these strawberry jam donuts are! Since I don\u2019t have a thermometer, I used a wooden spoon (or chopstick) to test the temperature. Put one end in the oil. If it bubbles, then the oil is hot enough.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lift and slide the dough balls<strong> <\/strong>gently into the oil, making sure that the donuts do not deflate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each side will take barely 2 minutes to fry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on your pan size, you\u2019ll be able to fry 2 or 3 donuts simultaneously.
