Whereas, baking powder needs only a liquid<\/strong>. That means a recipe with baking powder doesn\u2019t require yogurt, sour cream, brown sugar, or buttermilk (all acidic). Water or regular milk is more than enough.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Why the difference?<\/em> Because baking powder already has a powdered acid in it. How much do I use?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When you don\u2019t have baking soda, the best substitute is baking powder. Again, you\u2019ll have to <strong>adjust the quantity<\/strong>. The most accepted ratio is 1:3.
