But the real allure, for me, is the positively divine creamy texture and sweet grassy taste of matcha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> To save time, always begin with the buttermilk. Stir vinegar in milk and keep it aside for 5 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> In the meantime, combine your dry ingredients in a small bowl by sifting together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and matcha. Then stir in your sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Now add coconut oil and vanilla extract to the milk-vinegar mixture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Mix the wet ingredients into the dry. Combine till you get a smooth mixture. You can check if they\u2019re done by inserting a <strong>skewer<\/strong> in the center. It doesn\u2019t matter if you do it right side down or bottom side down. Press slightly so the matcha glaze coats the donut nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gently lift it off and hold it above the bowl, allowing the <strong>excess glaze to drift off.<\/strong> Set on a rack to dry. You can enjoy these matcha glazed donuts bursting with that umami flavor at this point.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or you could go <em>extra<\/em>, like me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a bag of <strong>freeze-dried strawberries<\/strong> lying around, which I sprinkled on top and then <strong>drizzled with a simple glaze<\/strong>. Just mix icing sugar and almond milk to get a thick paste that you can drizzle over!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-if-you-re-opting-for-donut-toppings-keep-this-in-mind\"><strong><em>If you\u2019re opting for donut toppings, keep this in mind<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The glaze (both matcha and white) sets fast, so if you\u2019re adding a topping, do it immediately. You can serve the matcha doughnuts in all sorts of ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>As-is.<\/strong> The soft, spongy, and moist donut crumbs are delicious. My advice? Eat them warm if you\u2019re serving them plain.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Covered with a blanket of <strong>icing sugar.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loaded down with <strong>matcha sugar<\/strong>. Mix matcha with powdered sugar and dunk the <em>warm<\/em> donuts in it, just like I did with my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/baked-cinnamon-donuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vegan baked cinnamon donuts<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beckoning beneath a blizzard of white <strong>chocolate coating<\/strong> (or dark chocolate). Both white and dark pair stunningly with matcha. Any non-dairy milk, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/oat-milk\/\">oat milk<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/cashew-milk\/\">cashew milk<\/a>, or coconut milk, will work here. You can even replace it with regular milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sugar: <\/strong>You can easily use raw sugar in this recipe. Should I still try this matcha dessert?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Absolutely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These donuts don't have an overwhelming taste of matcha. You can also try my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/matcha-granola\/\">matcha granola<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/matcha-basque-cheesecake\/\">matcha Basque cheesecake<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/strawberry-matcha-latte\/\">strawberry matcha latte<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tashasartisanfoods.com\/blog\/pinwheel-cookies\/\">matcha pinwheel cookies<\/a>. The flavor is creamy, earthy (think gently nutty), and very refreshing. And you can always tone down or up the level of matcha depending on how big a fan you are of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my opinion, it\u2019s a perfect dessert for beginners and seasoned matcha lovers alike.
