The peanut butter Rice Krispie squares are sweet, salty, crunchy, and so addictive! They just need a handful of ingredients and these no-bake treats are ready in no time!
In a small saucepan, combine the peanut butter, honey and sea salt and heat over a very gentle heat. The mixture should be just heated through and melted together.
Pour over the Rice Krispies and mix well.
Spoon into the prepared pan and flatten it, spreading it evenly. Refrigerate for a few minutes while you are making the chocolate topping.
Chocolate Topping
Heat the cream in a small saucepan, placed over a pan of simmering water. Add the chocolate to the cream and mix well, till you get a shiny glossy mixture.
Spread this over the peanut butter Rice Krispies mixture. Sprinkle some sea salt on top.
Put the pan back in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours until the bars are well set.
Cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
Allow the peanut butter squares to set well in the refrigerator. This will help you cut neater pieces.
Dark chocolate works the best in this recipe as it balances the sweetness of the Rice Krispies mixture.
Don't skip the sea salt. It really rounds up the flavors beautifully.
I used an 8" round pan but an 8" or 9" square pan will also work well.
