Whiskey Apple Iced Tea - This cocktail has been brewing in my head for the last month or so. And it turned out just as refreshing and delightful as I had imagined it to be!
A quick trip to Himachal last week took me to the gorgeous apple country- Thanedar. A charming little hamlet, with acres and acres of apple orchards, spread all across the mountains. Clean fresh air, trees laden with red and golden apples...I really think I could've stayed there forever. But the city called and I came back with some 80kgs of apples! You can guess how many apple recipes will pop up here now!
So the apples have been washed, stored well, and we are all enjoying the sweet crisp apples every day. But I did have to use them in some recipes, right? So a small bit has been sanctioned for this purpose and the first up is this Whiskey Apple Iced Tea.
How Can I Make This Cocktail
I used my favorite cold-brewed method to make iced tea. I stirred in some unsweetened apple juice ( another gift from the mountains), a bit of lemon juice and a splash of whiskey to my brew. A few slices of those flavourful crunchy apples and lemon finished the cocktail! I didn't feel the need to add any sweetener. But a touch of honey would be lovely here if you prefer a bit of sweetness.
By the way, you can make this iced tea the regular way too.. with Assam or Darjeeling teas. These will need to be brewed in hot boiling water for a few minutes. You can read about that on this post.
Can I Make This Drink Without Whiskey
This Whiskey Apple Iced Tea is a fantastic cocktail that's full of fresh seasonal fruity flavor combined with the smooth smokiness of a good whiskey. I think Bourbon would be wonderful in here too. You can certainly make this without any alcohol. That's how I served it to my kids. I added more apple juice and sweetened it with honey for them and they devoured a pitcherful between the two of them! Do add some fresh mint if you can get your hands on it....its always a great add on for all drinks.

Whiskey Apple Iced Tea
- 2 tsp Broken Orange Pekoe Tea/ Oolong
- 2 cups Water, room temperature
- 1 cup Apple Juice, unsweetened
- 100 ml Whiskey Please adjust the quantity per your preference
- 2 tsp Fresh lemon juice
- Honey to taste Optional
- Fresh apple slices and Lemon slices for garnish
- Stir in the tea in the water. Refrigerate for 8 hours up to a maximum of 12 hours.
- Strain the tea into a pitcher. Add apple juice, whiskey, and lemon juice. Stir in some honey if you'd like.
- Pour into your serving glass, garnish with apple and lemon slices. Top with ice and serve. enjoy!
