Oatmeal Latte is a genius drink. It’s coffee with oatmeal. The perfect winter recipe. It’s deliciously addictive and a hearty breakfast for early mornings that you can make in less than 15 minutes!
This vegan oatmeal latte is the cozy breakfast that makes me want to sit in a comfy little corner, enjoy a nice book, and listen to music. You eat your oatmeal and drink your coffee at the same time.
I've been sneaking the oatmeal coffee drink into my lunch too. And I'm not even a huge coffee person! Even my son, who typically can't stand oatmeal (except for my oatmeal raisin cookies and banana baked oatmeal), loves it. That’s how good this oatmeal latte is.
Why You’ll Love The Recipe?
The warm bowl of cinnamon-spiced coffee-flavored oatmeal is creamy and so delicious!
A wonderful way to start your day if you enjoy both flavors and want something different from traditional oatmeal.
Sip or scoop; the choice is yours. You can even top it with granola if you wish.
Oatmeal Latte Recipe Ingredients
Oats: I used rolled oats because they have a lovely chewy texture.
Milk: Coconut milk makes the oatmeal latte extra lush.
Dates were my choice of sweetener. Pit them and chop them up.
Cinnamon gives the genius concoction a warm, cozy taste.
Salt is key, but you need only a little touch of it.
Coffee: Use a shot or 2 of espresso or strongly brewed coffee.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Variations
Coconut milk: My oatmeal latte recipe is dairy-free because I’m lactose intolerant. You can use any milk you prefer—regular or another dairy-free alternative, like creamy cashew milk or homemade almond milk.
Sweetener: Don’t love the taste of dates? Brown sugar is a great substitute.
Topping: Top it with chocolate sauce if you wish. It will make this coffee oatmeal even more lush!
How To Make Oatmeal Latte?
Step 1: Combine oats and dates in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat with 1/2 cup water and milk.
Step 2: Stir in the salt and cinnamon.
Step 3: In another pan, gently boil the remaining 1 cup of milk. Pour 3/4 of the hot milk over the oatmeal mixture.
Step 4: Cook, stirring frequently, till your oatmeal is creamy.
Step 5: Spoon half the oatmeal in a mug.
Step 6: Pour half the brewed coffee or espresso shot on top.
Step 7: Pour half of the remaining frothy milk on top. Repeat with the remaining oatmeal, coffee, and frothy milk in another mug.
Step 8: Sprinkle with cinnamon powder and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Pro Tips
- The consistency of oatmeal latte is almost that of a smoothie, not thick like porridge.
- Rolled oats are best for this recipe because of their chewy, hearty texture. Instant oats will be too mushy.
- Like me, if you don't have an espresso machine at home, mix in strong-brewed coffee.
- Feel free to add more coffee if you like a stronger taste.
- Stir in brown sugar, date syrup, or maple syrup if you want the oatmeal sweeter.

Rolled oats are the best for this recipe. They don't take too long to cook, and retain their chewy texture that tastes so delicious. Instant oats will make this coffee latte too mushy.
