It’s been a while since I posted. But this thick, naturally sweetened fig and date smoothie just begged to be shared. Plus, figs taste yummy with banana and a warming spice like cinnamon!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You’ll absolutely love the flavor combination.

It’s one of the creamiest smoothies you’ll ever drink.

Healthy and delicious this smoothie is a wonderful snack or post-workout drink!

Fresh fig smoothie makes for a really refreshing, quick, and easy breakfast.

Fig Smoothie Recipe Ingredients

labeled ingredients for making fig smoothie.

Figs: I used fresh green figs. Any other variety of figs will work in this recipe too. You can even use dried figs or frozen figs for this recipe.

Banana makes the smoothie creamy and gives it natural sweetness.

Dates are a key ingredient. They add a sweetness along with a lovely caramelly flavor.

Oats make the smoothie more filling. I like to use rolled oats, but instant or quick-cooking ones will also work here.

Cinnamon powder adds great flavor to the smoothie.

Milk: I used light coconut milk to make a dairy-free fig smoothie. You can use any milk you like, so everyone can enjoy it!

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Step 2: Blend until smooth and thick.

Final step: Adjust thickness with milk. Taste and adjust for sweetness with more dates.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • Using a frozen banana makes the fig date smoothie creamier.
  • Add chia seeds or flax seeds to make the smoothie even more nutritious.
  • Add more milk if the smoothie is too thick for your liking. I prefer a thicker consistency. It’s more filling and keeps the hangry snack attacks at bay.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use dried figs?

Fresh figs have a wonderfully sweet taste and a soft texture. But they are highly perishable and barely last long. The dried fruit? That you can get all year round. So, if you don’t have fresh figs, make a dried fig smoothie.
Soak 2-3 dried figs in a little warm water for a few minutes. Use with the water and figs in your smoothie!

What other fruits go well with figs?

Don’t want to make a fig banana smoothie? Skip the banana and add apples, pears, mango, or even avocado.

How else can you use fresh figs in recipes?

I know fresh figs are available for a very short time. But you can do so much with them. So, save a few to make:
1. A fig and rosemary focaccia. It is the perfect snack.
2. Homemade fig jam. It is a delicious filling for crêpes, donuts, and cakes.
3. An easy, baked brie with fig jam—a no-fuss, low-effort appetizer for get-togethers.
