As involved as it may seem to make waffles from scratch, truth be told, it really couldn't be easier. Once you've whipped up the batter, your waffle iron does all the work. This easy waffle recipe without eggs makes sure you get the most delicious ones.

Every. Time.

And they’re vegan to boot!

They taste so wonderful, you'll really forget all about the store-bought ones, which are filled with God knows what and have been sitting on the shelf for God knows how long.

Why We Love This Recipe

You get golden and buttery waffles

And you can’t even tell they’re without eggs

Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, vegan waffles

It uses pantry staples and doesn’t have you running to the nearest store

It’s a basic recipe for homemade waffles and a great carrier for any add-ons you like

Eggless Waffles Ingredients

Flour: All-purpose or wholewheat flour, both work very well in this recipe. You can also make these gluten-free like I did with my gluten-free apple and cinnamon waffles, and even brownie waffles using buckwheat flour.

Milk: I've made these waffles with coconut milk, but please feel free to use any milk of your choice.

Oil: I love the flavor of coconut oil in my baking. Any other oil or butter (melted) will be perfect too.

Add-ons: From orange or lemon zest to chocolate chips to nuts, you can add pretty much everything to the batter of this easy waffle recipe. Try matcha powder for a twist. Mix it up as you like.

If you're into chocolate, like my crew is, you can easily make these into chocolate waffles without eggs. Add a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients and proceed as given in the eggless waffle recipe.

How To Make Fluffy Eggless Waffles

Step 1: Mix coconut milk with vinegar in a small bowl to make buttermilk for these eggless waffles and let it sit for 5–6 minutes.

Step 2: Meanwhile, sift and combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and cinnamon powder.

Step 3: Mix vanilla and coconut oil into the buttermilk.

Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Step 5: Whisk until you have a smooth and thick egg-free waffle batter. It should be of a soft-dropping consistency, like a cake batter.

Step 6: Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 7: Grease the cavities well and pour a ladleful of vegan waffle batter.

Step 8: Cook for 4–5 minutes or until golden and crisp.

Step 9: Repeat with the rest of the batter.

Final step: Serve warm and savor!

Pro Tips

  • Do not overmix the waffle batter without eggs. You don’t want heavy waffles.
  • Eggless waffles tend to take longer to crisp up. So, add a few minutes to the regular cooking time of your waffle iron.
  • To prevent your cooked waffles from getting soggy, slide them into a preheated oven. this will keep the waffles warm and crisp.

Recipe FAQs

How do I know when the waffles are done?

When your waffle iron stops steaming, that's when the ingredients have cooked through and your egg-free waffles are done. Open up and check; give it a second or more if you want crisper homemade waffles.

Why do my waffles stick to my waffle iron?

Make sure your waffle iron is hot enough and the cavities are greased very well.

How can I store these vegan waffles?

This waffle batter recipe (no eggs) is best for making fresh waffles. Eaten warm. But if you do have any leftovers, you can simply refrigerate or freeze them. Pop them in the toaster, and they'll be good to go
