Summer = ice cream, right? I can’t have much of it thanks to lactose intolerance. But frozen yogurt? That I can handle. And so, this mango cherry frozen yogurt has become my go-to treat. It’s cold, creamy, and just the right mix of sweet and tangy.

I adapted the recipe for it from David Lebovitz's The Perfect Scoop. I highly recommend this book. It's got so many ice cream recipes that it’ll satisfy every craving under the sun.

If you're into quick, fruity frozen treats, you should also try my mango cashew popsicles, mango thandai pops, or this easy frozen yogurt bark– they're ready in minutes and just as refreshing!

Why You’ll Love The Recipe

Mango frozen yogurt with cherries is honestly the easiest thing to make. No cooking, no custard. Just blend fruit, yogurt, and sugar, and pop it in your ice cream maker!  Mine was soft-serve ready in under 25 minutes!

No artificial flavors, no overload of sweeteners - this mango froyo is full of real, fresh fruity flavors that will keep you coming back for more!

If fresh mango desserts are your thing, you’ll love my mango coconut panna cotta – creamy, no-bake, and super indulgent!

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for making mango frozen yogurt.

Yogurt: Thick, creamy Greek yogurt gives mango and cherry frozen yogurt a rich texture.  Make sure it’s full-fat for the best mouthfeel.

Mangoes: Go for ripe, juicy mangoes for natural sweetness and vibrant color. Alphonso, Kesar, or Pairi are great picks. Feel free to use canned mango puree if fresh mango is not available.

Cherries add texture and a lovely tart bite to the mango froyo. You can use fresh or frozen cherries. Make sure they’re pitted and roughly chopped.

Sugar: The amount of sugar you use depends on the sweetness of the mangoes and cherries. The ones I used were quite sweet, so I cut down on the amount of sugar I used. Don’t want refined sugar? Use honey or maple syrup instead, just adjust the amount to taste. I did something similar in my mango coconut popsicles, and they turned out delicious with just maple syrup.

Lemon Juice: A little splash of lemon brightness both mango and cherry flavors. It also helps keep the frozen yogurt from tasting too flat or overly sweet.

Please see the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Step 3: Add the mixture to your ice cream maker and then freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 4: Add the cherries to the churning mixture when it has started thickening up, in about 20 minutes. Continue churning for another 5 minutes.

You can either serve the frozen yogurt immediately or freeze it for 6- 8 hours for a firmer texture.

Pro Tips

  • If you use frozen mangoes and your blender is having a hard time, add about 1 tbsp of milk to help the mixture along.
  • It will take about 20 -25 minutes for a soft-serve mango cherry frozen yogurt to be ready.  Perfect for a quick treat without waiting hours!
  • But if you prefer a slightly harder consistency that you can scoop like ice cream in a bowl or cone, freeze the yogurt after step 3.
  • The amount of time to make the mango frozen yogurt can vary depending on your ice cream maker.
  • Let it sit before scooping. If you freeze the cherry frozen yogurt with mango overnight, take it out 10–15 minutes before scooping. It softens just enough and becomes super easy to serve.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make mango frozen yogurt without an ice cream maker?

Yes! You can make mango cherry frozen yogurt without an ice cream maker!
Use frozen mangoes instead! Blend frozen mangoes with yogurt, sugar, and lime juice in a food processor or blender. Stir in the chopped cherries. Transfer the mixture to an air-tight container and freeze for 8-10 hours. Scoop and enjoy!

How to store homemade mango frozen yogurt?

Store the mango cherry froyo in a shallow, freezer-safe container with a tight lid for 2 to 3 weeks. Freeze as soon as it's churned. Avoid repeated thawing and refreezing because it messes up the texture

This looks crazy good! My favourite summer treat is ice-cream without a doubt, my favourite flavour being salt butter caramel. Bits of crushed brownie pieces would make it divine! And bacon with salt butter caramel sounds quite interesting too, though I've never tried it. ❤️
