It’s that time of the year when the air changes a bit. Days are still quite warm but mornings and evenings are getting that teeny bit of nip the air. Yes, autumn! Time for autumnal browns, oranges, greens and rust. Warm breakfasts are quite welcome now. Though in our house, they are very welcome all through the year if they come in the form of waffles or pancakes! Keeping the seasonal theme in mind, we’ve been digging into these Pumpkin Orange Pancakes !
Diwali countdown has begun! I’m busy wrapping up my work orders, home repair projects. The house is getting a sparkle and shine, we are filling it up with flowers, candles and diyas. Yes, you can almost smell the sweet excitement in the air. With the biggest festival comes the food..sweet, savoury, rich, delightful, indulgent ! What’s Diwali without mithai? And nothing like homemade treats like these Easy Coconut Ladoos ( laddu) !
As the onslaught of rich meals and desserts continues in this season, I like to balance out with light, healthier foods whenever possible. I don’t believe in any diets, or cutting out on any food groups. My strong philosophy towards eating has always been that of moderation – Consume sensible portions of everything ( unless there are medical reasons not to do so), exercise at least three times a week, treat yourself kindly. And so after a night of Diwali party, its a good idea to detox, soothe and energise yourself with this utterly delicious Green Smoothie the next day! 🙂
As Diwali approaches ( rather fast this year!), we are all getting busy with cleaning, decorating our homes, thinking of new interesting recipes to serve at our Diwali parties, to take as hostess gifts and also for visitors dropping in to wish us. And if you have forever hungry kids like mine, festive season notwithstanding, then this Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Ball recipe will sure come in handy!
